lifetime management strategies

Take back control. Slow down time. Live your life to the full!

What is our most valuable resource? Water? Language? Freedom? No. It’s time! But only one in 20 people now feel they have enough time in their lives. So how do the other 95% of us stop time flying by uncontrollably?

Take back control

Many of us live under the illusion that we have little control over our time. We allow other people, external events and internal demons to dictate how we use it. This is not helpful, people! Strategies such as following your own agenda, being on time and just starting can shift this unhealthy perspective.

Slow down time

Time can feel like it’s speeding by in a blur of days, gone before you really appreciate them. Perception of time is influenced by how many inputs your brain is processing, and the emotions linked with what you are doing. Staying busy with purpose, changing your scenery and taking time to pause all help to slow down time.

Live your life to the full!

In day-to-day life, routines often take centre stage. But predictable, repeated activities blend together when you look back, making you feel time poor. To avoid this compression of time and live your life to the full, while also keeping your brain healthy for longer, mix it up, make time for exercise and never stop learning.

Time Rich topics

Can You Slow Down Time?

Whether you can actually slow down time or not (spoiler: you can’t) doesn’t really matter. It’s only your perception of time that makes it feel like life is speeding by, out of control. That, you can change.

Follow Your Own Agenda

Take back control by choosing intentionally to follow your own agenda, rather than allowing other people and events to hijack your time.

Stay Busy

A life filled with high-density, meaningful experiences, conscious engagement and positive emotions makes your brain process more information, effectively stretching and slowing down time.

Mix It Up!

Variety is an important part of the antidote to feeling time poor. Research on neuroplasticity shows that greater cognitive engagement slows down your perception of time.

Be On Time

40% of people are often late, eroding trust and causing stress. The lost self-respect and integrity can be regained, by taking six simple steps, from planning ahead to accepting accountability.

Just Start

Procrastination is an invisible demon causing a paralysing compression of time. But anxiety about a task is almost always worse than the task itself, and I have many tips to help you get started.

Change Your Scenery

New visual environments disrupt the brain’s energy-saving automaticity, laying down more memories. Slow down time by making simple changes to your locations, workplace and your home.

Make Time for Exercise

While lack of time is the number one reason given for not exercising, physical activity is in fact one of the most effective tools for slowing down time. It is a keystone habit for lifetime management.

Take Time To Pause

Taking time to pause is a counterbalance to the modern obsession with constant striving and greater productivity. I show you how taking pauses is a very necessary element of living your life to the full.

Never Stop Learning

Lifelong learning is one of the best ways to create the mental markers that make time feel slower. And there’s a bonus: Learning enhances ‘cognitive reserve’, slowing the decline in brain function as you age.

Keep Looking Forwards

“Look where you’re going, not where you’ve been!” Investing time in shaping your future instead of ruminating over the mistakes of the past, is the final strategy bringing it all together for a Time Rich life.
